Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has kicked off the construction of a 17.5-kilometer feeder road linking Andaza, Dahuwa, Katanga, and Baranda communities, awarded to Radok Construction Nigeria Limited at a cost of ₦2.866 billion. The project, flagged off on Sept. 29 during the governor’s Citizens Engagement Programme, Gwamnati Da Jama’a, in Kiyawa Local Government Area, is set to be completed within 12 months.
The road is designed to make it easier to transport agricultural produce, improve access to healthcare and schools, and strengthen community and family ties. Governor Namadi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing access roads, upgrading infrastructure, and improving healthcare across the state.
During the programme, the governor also inspected and commissioned a newly renovated student hostel at a secondary school in Kiyawa. He made a surprise visit to Kiyawa General Hospital, promising immediate renovation to restore the facility to standard and ensure better healthcare delivery.
Officials presented scorecards of their ministries, showcasing projects completed in Kiyawa, while community leaders submitted a list of priority needs for the government’s attention. The event highlighted the strong bond between the government and the people, with residents turning out in large numbers, lining the streets from Shuwarin Bridge to Kiyawa town to welcome the governor.
In gratitude, the community offered symbolic gifts, including kola nuts, dates, fish, and a bull, representing their culture, livelihoods, and unity. Governor Namadi called the massive turnout a sign of trust and confidence in his administration and the All Progressives Congress.
With the road project and commitments to healthcare and education, the state government says it is focused on making development more people-centered, practical, and impactful.
