Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced on Oct. 3, 2025, during a meeting with the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, at his office, that the state will allocate ₦5 billion for the next phase of constructing the 10,000-capacity National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Agbowa, Ikorodu.
Sanwo-Olu praised Corps Members for their contributions to Lagos’ development, calling the NYSC programme a “national pride.” He urged participants to “wear the experience with dignity and honour.” The Governor added that Lagos State is committed to supporting the NYSC and addressing its needs.
He also promised to consider the NYSC’s requests for an ambulance and other equipment to improve operations in Lagos. Additionally, Sanwo-Olu revealed that the minimum allowance for Corps Members serving in Lagos government agencies has been increased to match current economic realities.
The governor assured that Lagos will keep supporting the NYSC, providing a welcoming environment so Corps Members feel valued and have a memorable service year.
