On Sept. 26, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration kicked off the construction of 10.5 kilometers of access roads, N11, N16, N40, and SILS 03, to serve the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Karsana District, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
The project, set to be completed in 18 months, is expected to drive rapid development in the district, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, FCT Minister, Dr. Nyesom Wike, described the project as a fulfillment of promises made to residents on providing infrastructure. He stressed the importance of roads for development. “No city can truly be called a city without good road networks. That is the first mark of development before hospitals, schools, or other facilities can be built. Without roads, even investments make no sense. That is why we are here, to provide the critical infrastructure that will unlock the potential of this district,” Wike said.
The Minister assured residents that enough funds have been secured for timely delivery, adding that the roads will be inaugurated during the third anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration. He praised the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and his team for their commitment to quality work and urged residents to support the contractors for smooth execution. “This is a promise made under the Renewed Hope Agenda, and today, it is a promise kept,” Wike said.
The FCTA Acting Head of Service, Mrs. Nancy S. Nathan, called the project a strategic move to ease traffic congestion, connect Karsana District with other parts of the city, and boost commercial and residential growth. She noted that the Administration is determined to deliver projects that improve lives, grow the economy, and create lasting legacies.
The Acting Executive Secretary of FCDA, Mr. Richard Dauda Yohana, explained that the road construction includes earthworks, site clearance, culverts, drainage systems, and solar-powered street lighting. He said the 10.5 km stretch will cut travel time and improve security in the area. Yohana also called for residents and community youths to cooperate for timely project completion.
According to the FCDA boss, these access roads will spark a new wave of development in Karsana District, making it one of Abuja’s fastest-growing neighborhoods.
