On Oct. 26, Jigawa State Government approved construction of three major road projects in Miga Local Government Area, costing over N30 billion.
Governor Malam Umar Namadi announced this during the flag-off of the Tsakuwa–Koya–Kafin Hausa road in Miga. He said Miga is one of the state’s key farming zones, with big Fadama and irrigation setups for year-round crops.
The governor explained that the roads will make it easier to reach markets, move farm goods, and grow business in the area.
He noted that the 30-kilometre Tsakuwa–Koya–Kafin Hausa feeder road, awarded for N7 billion, will finish in 12 months. “This project is among three major roads being executed by the state government in Miga Local Government as part of our commitment to fulfilling campaign promises,” the governor stated.
Namadi made the announcement during his visit to Miga for the Government Citizens Engagement Programme (Gwamnatin Da Jama’a), where he also commissioned a rural electrification project in Koya Village.
At the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdullahi Kainuwa, listed health improvements in the local government over the past two years. These include renovating Miga General Hospital and other primary health centres, hiring new health workers, and enrolling over 7,000 vulnerable people in the state’s Social Health Insurance Scheme.
The Commissioner for Education added that the government spent over N5 billion on renovating and building classrooms, plus providing furniture and learning materials to schools in the area.
The governor renewed his administration’s promise to focus on infrastructure and people development to raise living standards for Jigawa citizens.
